GMI multitray 800

Every self-served portion of fresh meat is always precisely-weighted with a minimal amount of “giveaway”.
With the GMI multitray 800, virtually any portion can be placed in a single tray, precisely weighted
and with the minimum amount of “giveaway”.

• Virtually any portion produced by the universal
GMS multicut 1200 can be fitted in a tray,
and these are packed as precisely-weighted
  portions (e.g. schnitzels,
  steaks, cutlets, roulades, minute steaks,
goulash, strips of meat, and much more).
• Virtually any tray size can be used,
since the tray dispenser can be quickly
  adjusted to the new format.
• Weight settings for various
  products can be stored.
• Depending on the packing task, 2 to 6
employees can do packing work on the line.
• In most cases, 5 employees work on the line
comprising the CBF cyclefreeze, the GMS multicut
1200 and the GMI multitray 800.

High-quality productivity

Quality
• High-quality products and high standard of
hygiene due to immediate packing in
  trays following portioning. The
uniformly-cut slices formed by the GMS
multicut do not have to undergo
  any sorting.
• Contact is only made with around 5 to 15 %
  of the slices during re-sorting.
Flexibility
• Flexible tray feeder line for virtually any portion of fresh meat
- virtually any type of tray can
  be used
• Little space required for customised
  lines

Result
• 100% fixed-weight packing with a
“giveaway” of less than 1% (2% for bone-in
  products) during line operation

Considerable savings potential

Amortisation
• High degree of efficiency due to versatility
• “Giveaway” less than 1% (2% for bone-in products)
• 30%–50% reduction in manpower costs for
  fixed-weight packing
• Only uses 30%–50% of the space needed
  for a sorting line
• Only 30%–50% cleaning work
  compared to a sorting line

Operation

The portioned slices from the GMS multicut
run on a conveyor belt to the tray feeders.
Trays are dispensed from an easily
adjustable tray dispenser on to a second
conveyor belt. The tray feeders place the
slices into the trays in accordance with
customer requirements. The filled
trays move across a dynamic weigh station,
which has to perform two tasks simultaneously:
Firstly, it has to weigh each tray, so that these
are automatically sorted at the sorting station.
Most trays have their weights lying within the
fixed-weight limit values and move towards
the packing machine without being processed
any further.
Depending on product type, 5% (boneless,
lean pork) to 40% (cutlet) of the trays have
their weights lying outside the fixed-weight
limit values. These are sorted according to
whether they are very light, light, heavy and
very heavy and are transferred to one of four
corresponding buffer conveyors. At these
conveyors, an employee deals with the
underweight and overweight trays by
swapping a few slices around.

In this way, 100% fixed weight portioning
with a “giveaway” of less than 1% (2%
for bone-in products) is achieved.

The second task of the weigh station is to act as a tendency control.
It computes the mean weight for a certain
number of trays and compares this value
with the target weight. If there is a difference
of more than 1 g/slice, the weigh station
adjusts the portioning machine so that there
is a 1 g per slice correction, and continues to do this,
until the mean weight is as near to the target weight as possible.
This second feature of the weigh station ensures that
the “giveaway” is less than 1% for boneless products and
less than 2% for bone-in products.
